Newsletter File Format

The sample library of past newsletters were saved in .pdf (Adobe Portable Document File).  This preserves the original look and feel of the document regardless of what computer you are using to read them.  Newsletters were scanned in at either 150 or 200 lines per inch in a black and white format.  This resolution keeps the file size down while at the same time allowing you to enlarge the file without the print beginning to "fall" apart too badly.  No OCR (optical character recognition) was performed on the newsletters as this would be a very tedious thing to do especially with the older newsletters.  By doing OCR, the file size would be dramatically reduced in size, but the original look of the newsletter would have been destroyed.

You may want to print out "Newsletters - A Guided Tour" to give you some perspective as to what you are viewing. There are too many newsletters to be placed on the Internet, but an ample sampling of newsletters has been uploaded for your reading pleasure.  Some files have little notes attached to give you some additional information.
