Lake Country Senior Times; August 1999 article on Tom Davis of Scuba Point, Possum Kingdom Lake Courtesy of Lake Country Sun In 1972, Tom Davis opened up a brand new diving center, Scuba Point Travis, on the south side of Highway 2222 near the intersection of Highway 620 in Austin. It had an indoor pool, boat storage, and "Goldfinger Junior," a 100 cubic foot per minute air compressor. I was forturnate to be the first assistant manager of this facility. Tom is one of the good guys of this world. At that time, I was also President of the University Underwater Society. He allowed us to dive and camp for a club outing at his facility Scuba Point Dive Shop Possum Kingdom Lake, Texas. This article gives a glimpse at this early Texas pioneering dive shop owner when "a man's word was good as his bond." |
